The Directors

Carl Mar

Founder & Director

Carl is an economist and experienced Property Investment Advisor in Fiji.

Before MMF, he spearheaded the formation of the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) Property Division in 1986, growing the portfolio from its initial value of $ 5 million to an eventual $100 million market worth in 2005. Carl also headed negotiations for FNPF with FIRCA, Vodafone, and Tappoo Ltd for the development of their respective headquarters buildings. The value of the developments was a combined total of $61.5 Million. Moreover, he project managed (i.e., FNPF rep) various FNPF building projects e.g., FNPF Place (Dolphins), Vodafone HQ Building (Tamavua), and the Harbour Centre refurbishment. Carl was the Manager of the FNPF Property Investment Divisions for 8 years before becoming the manager of FNPF Investments Ltd from December 2005 to October 2006.

Carl has experience in Master Planning having co-chaired various Architectural and Master Planning competitions including the initial Suva Foreshore proposed reclamation (SCC/FNPF project).

In late 2005, Carl went into the private consultancy practice and formed MMF Consultants Ltd with Jared Morris. Through MMF Consultants Ltd, he project managed the Tappoo City Plaza ($40 million) and managed the refurbishment of the old Mocambo Hotel to the Novotel brand ($5 million). He was also the Project Manager for FTA in the development of their apartment project on Knolly St ($3.5 million) and in Y2010, he established the Strata Title and Body Corporate. Carl continues to act as Business Advisor to the FTA Board and the Tappoo Group.

From 2007 to 2009, Carl served as the CEO of Good luck Investments Ltd and Cravensville Limited with specific responsibility for the management of the two companies' Hotels i.e., Mercure Hotel Nadi and Novotel Nadi, along with Accor.

He was also involved in the Project Management of the Waste to Energy Project (Iviti Renewable Dis-energy Power Plant Co Ltd) from June 2010 till May 2011, where he carried out the Due Diligence exercise and conducted a full financial feasibility study of the USD 70 Million project.

Carl was the Project Manager for the ‘Damodar City’ Project (Retail Shopping Centre development in Suva) where he prepared full Financial Feasibility, developed its Property Management system including the establishment of the Property Division, write up of Property Management procedures, and development of Lease strategies, etc. He is currently the Principal Advisor to the Damodar Group and other various organizations.

Jared Morris

Founder & Director

Jared established MMF Consultants together with Carl in 2005.

Prior to this, he was the Business Development Manager for Shell Oil (1998 – 2004) where he developed targets and resources planning for the Commercial line of businesses in Fiji and Tonga and he was Project engineer for depot and retail service station engineering, maintenance planning. Jared also served as Advisor to IViti Renewable Dis-energy Plant Co. Limited for WTE Fiji Plant.

In 2008, Jared became the Chief Executive Officer for FSM Petroleum Corporation. He is currently based in the Federate States of Micronesia.

Natasha Underwood Mar

Director

Natasha joined MMF in 2010, becoming the company's third Director.

Her experience in policies led to the write up of the institutional framework for the Nausori Town Council - new municipal market development ($12 Million) where she served as the principal advisor to the Council on the Project. Natasha was also the principal research consultant for Labasa Town Council where she conducted the feasibility study for the relocation of the Labasa Market and Bus Station.

Natasha currently heads the research field for most of MMF's projects including demand studies, organizational structures, Agriculture Market Linkage Research, and Development of Business Plans, Operations Procedures, Strategic Plans, Risk Management Plan, etc.

She provides advisory service in Business Development, Commercial Tenancy Mix, Project Coordination, and Property management.
